simple search based nav, cookies, v7 and v8

    Hi

I have a client who runs several linked catalogues. They were on v7, but most of their catalogues have now moved to v8. However, one catalogue remains as v7. I use an externally maintained system to provide links between the catalogues.

We are now experiencing some errors whereby if you go into the v7 site, then try to get into the v8 sites, all is OK until you use the SS based navigation, at which point the perl script somehow tries to find the page you are after (in the v8 site) in the v7 site, thus 404.

It seems that if the site cookie is set in v7, it screws up the nav in v8. If I clear the cookie and go in via a v8 site, it seems to work OK.

    Personal is v8
    Business is v7

    Any thoughts?

    Further info:

It seems that v8 doesn't set a ACTINIC_REFERRER cookie (or my upgraded v7 site doesn't). v8 seems to set ACTINIC_CART on entry to the v8 site, and CART_CONTENT if you look at the basket. (Firefox also shows ACTINIC_BUSINESS, but IE doesn't?).

After clearing all cookies (and closing IE):

If I go into the v8 sites first, and use the SS based nav, the above cookies are set - going into v7 then sets ACTINIC_REFERRER (with the wrong path for a v8 site). This dosen't seem to cause a problem.

But if I go into the v7 site first, ACTINIC_REFERRER is set first, then going into the v8 sites causes the error.

        Dan,

This is working as designed at the moment. The main issue being 2 different types of catalog being uploaded to the same domain name. The Browser keeps track of the domain name in the cookie and does not keep track of the specific URL hence the possibilities for the error happening.

Best bet would be to upgrade the remaining catalog to v8 too.

        Kind regards,

Late thanks Bruce, that's what I did. I think my subscribed thread notifications are going into my spam black hole!
