    price options for actinic

    Hi all

A female friend of mine is looking to start a new eccommerce shop and i was talking to her about actinic catalog. When i told her the price approx £400 it was a little over budget.

I was wondering if there are any actinic resellers offering a option to pay by a couple or three installments plan etc..or can you get an earlier version a little cheaper.

Yes i know what most of you are thinking, actinic is good price anyway and why doesnt she get a small loan etc.. etc..

Ive told her to have a go with the trial version before buying to see if its suitable

    Any ideas (non sarcastic please)

Another option would be to use Actinic Express - that has a monthly charge.

Get a credit card with 6 months interest free on purchases.

Or as previously recommended, use Express.

If £350 for catalog is expensive in her eyes, then ssl, hosting and stock will tip her over the edge.

Yeah, I would agree with using Express to begin with and then see how she gets on http://www.actinicexpress.co.uk/

You can even do an online trial there to see whether it would suit her. Using the interest free credit card is a good idea, but its a bit risky and chances are that it would take more than a few months to start making much.

The other alternative is to use one of the various free shopping cart options that are available (non actinic) but in all honesty I've looked at those in the past and if you want anything more than the most basic, then Actinic is by far the best (and simplest) option.

If she only wanted a standard theme on the site then she could ask a designer to set it up for her and then she could use Client which is about £250.

There was a free 25 product version of Actinic that was given away in some magazines and was the whole thing but just limited to 25 products

But really you have to ask their commitment, if the Under £1000 total price to set up a shop is to expensive (including ISP and say Worldpay & a small stock). Maybe they would be better off trying Ebay for a few months and then if itworks out re-consider starting a Actinic shop

It can only be bought through someone who has Designer - The free copy of LE 25 was only available in V7, the V8 offer that was free with PC Magazine recently was the normal 30 day trial.

I think Chris's idea is the best, if she hasn't got a thousand pound to throw at the idea, then don't even try - start on ebay and see how it goes. Cheap to try, little setup and easy to get out if/when it goes titsup.
