Can you suspend ordering by customer group

Hello,

Is is possible to have one group of customer accounts able to place an order and another not?

Reason is that client wants foreign customer accounts to view and contact and UK account holders to order online.

If no shipping class specified for a group of countries in normal shopping mode - they will receive a contact us type message. Not sure that this will extend to account holders though. The only way to find out would be set up and test.

Thanks for the info.

I was hoping there might be something connected with the accounts so when I import I could select what group each accounts gos in and maybe that might enable/disable them from placing an order.

If they dont take too long to set up, can you delete them and then reset them up when ready?

um - possibly not. There are 1150 accounts and I don't really fancy that.

Besides after the first 100 I would be too bored to get it right ;(

ah sorry i presumed you had one bad account and wanted to suspend that, not all of them.

I need to import this 1150 accounts and would like some to login and just view prices and others to be able to view and buy.

Yes what you want can be done by uticking the "Enabled" option for a "Customer group" under the "Prices" tab of a "Product. There is a problem though, this only removes the "Addtocart button" for that product but the "Quantity box" is still visible to the customer. I will have to check with development to see if there is a way of hiding the "Quantity box" as well. When I hear from them I'll give you an update.
