    View Cart/Checkout synchronisation

Hi, I'm a new user so please be gentle.

I have set up a new site www.duck-artshop.com and am having problems getting the Cart and Checkout to show an accurate list of items.

When you add a couple of items, view the cart then delete an item, continue shopping (from any product page) then click the View Cart banner menu button it is always out of sync.

The Checkout button on the banner menu is sometimes populated by the correct data and someitmes by the out of sync data, and sometimes drops out.

People have tested it and it seems NOT to be working on Windows Internet Explorer PCs, but fine on others (mozilla, Mac).

If you refresh using the F5 or browser refresh it sorts itself out. So it seems to be a refresh type problem only on IE.

I have done the usual checks (CGI path) etc. I've triple checked everything, returned layouts to factory defaults etc. I am on WebFusion UNIX and write on a Windows PC. It all seemed to be working before I set up a new domain and hosting.

Please help, I was due to go live last week.

It worked fine for me in IE7, although it was very slow. I added a couple of items to the cart and then removed one - viewed the cart and went to checkout - all seemed normal.

Did you view the cart from a product page by using the banner menu View Cart? I've had 5 people try this from IE7 with the same error after deleting an item. Do you have any thoughts on what it might be?

The people who have seen it have used the following process.

          1. Add any three items to the shopping cart.
          2. Go to the shopping cart (using the banner menu "View Cart" button) and delete one...it all looks fine I know.
          3. Now click on the banner menu "View Cart"...it still looks fine.
          4. Go to any product page (or click continue shopping).
          5. Now click on the banner menu "View Cart" button and the Cart is out of date.

Using the Browser refresh you can get it back to what it should be.

Tried the sequence you describe, and I get the same result as you. You might need to register a support request with Actinic Support so they can look at a snapshot of your site.

In that sequence the error shows for me as well. It may be to do with you using the confirm add to cart option. Change it and see what happens - I never use it as it adds extra clicks.

You could also try a purge and refresh as sometimes thigs geta bit confused on the server when you are designing and doing lots of changes - a purge and refresh will clear everything out.

                Hi,
I've purged and refreshed to no avail. I have just loaded the site to a different server www.panoptessentry.com and this works fine. Could it be something to do with the server? I am using a WebFusion UNIX server.

Could be that the cgi scripts are not working correctly. I use Webfusion Linux and have no problems.

I have now deleted my CGI scripts and completely refreshed the site. Cleared my cookies and temporary internet pages, checked the CGI permissions with my hosters and I still have the same problem...any further thoughts?

If it works on the other host then move hosts.

                        Hi,
I've paid upfront for a years hosting. I have spoken with WebFusion and they say it's a software problem! Although they are going to check it out.

Isn't there a simple "refresh cart" routine/code I can insert somewhere?

Ok - If that is the Linux and not the windows package, I have over 50 websites many of them Actinic running on that package so I think the problem has nothing to do with the hosting.

If it is the windows package then you may have problems - the are several threads on the subject of Actinic on a windows server.
