I have a UNIX server not Windows on WebFusion.

I have just loaded the same site onto www.panoptessentry.com, which is also a UNIX server (also run by pipex, but 123-reg hosting) and it works fine. So it does appear to be the hosting...

I'm starting to get desperate now so I may have to buy alternative hosting. Unless you have any further thoughts?

I would agree with you - it should work but obviously does not. So move and see what happens - webfusion have a 30 day money back offer so make use of that.

I've got my money back and have changed to another pipex hosting account (123-reg) and everything works fine....that's a week I'd rather forget !

Agreed - sometimes things are just unexplainable and you just need to go with what works.
