Remote Desktop issue with Actinic v8

    Hi,

We are looking to upgrade from v7 to v8 to take advantage of some of the new features.

Currently we have actinic v7 installed on our windows server 2000 machine, as we need it to automatically load and upload our website.

This all works fine with v7. So for testing I've downloaded the v8 trial software and installed it onto another one of our servers, however the software will not run through remote desktop. Has anyone experienced this problem?

I thought we may need to go to multi-user as this seems a little more designed for running on a server. However, the trial software does not include this version and I'm not sure quite what would install onto the server and if it would allow automatic uploading?

run actinic v8 muti-site all day long remotely using UltraVNC without issues.

You havn't mentioned what the issues are, or what the remote programme your'e using.

Are you using the latest remote desktop client?

This replaces the old terminal services client that originally came with 2000 server.

Sorry to clarify, I am trying to connect from a Windows XP Laptop to a Windows 2000 server using the windows Remote Desktop program.
This arrangement works fine for v7 but on v8 the splash screen comes up followed by an appropriate loading pause but then nothing. The main application window never appears!

I have tried VNC and it does run through this but the refresh rate on VNC seems painfully slow, I certainly wouldn't want to be using it for any extended period of time.

Maybe there is some better arrangement with the new software options, what I'm basically looking for is:

        - Design website on Client machine 1 (My laptop)
        - Upload website on Server machine (automated process)
        - Download orders on Client machine 2 (Our Sales administrators PC)

Actinic MutiUser sounds like what you need.

Yes, reading the spec a bit more closely that does look like the right one.
Just a shame its the most expensive, really wish we had kept up our cover subscriptions now!

I use remote desktop (Win XP -> Win2000) exclusively with ver 8 and I have never had any problems.
