    Fed up.

    I'm fed up with Actinic.

Can someone have a look at my site in development?

    http://www.cookoo.co.uk
and then have a look at the screenshot of my current look (see attached). I don't know why the layout changed, but it did all of a sudden. The undo facility was greyed out. I backup my site every 1 - 2 hours, and a restore did not change the problem.

I use Dreamweaver heavily in conjunction with Actinic to design the layout.

I'm not stupid, I've been commercially designing sites for three years, been involved in computing to 20 years, but I'm sick of late nights / early mornings trying to get to grips with Actinic.

I'm tired, fed-up, and thinking of dumping Actinic from a great height.

I'm sorry to rant on about this, because I know there are real Actinic professionals in here who have managed to get to grips with it, but I'm getting to the stage where I will worry about promotion of e-commerce to my clients.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

    Simon

What does that mean for me?

Do I start from scratch for the third time?

Is it small enough to email me a snapshot so I can have a play.

                  Hi Malcolm,

I've managed to recover a snapshot from 2 days ago in which at least the layout is ok. I'll have a go at trying to recover what I've done since and get back to you.

Thanks for your help, let me see how I get on.

I am seriousy fed-up though. This isn't a learning curve at all, and Actinic does not seem like a complete package. It's more like a BETA.

                      Thanks again.

The learning curve is HUGE especially for users of V7 - I still cannot get my head around all of it but I think it is easier than V7 in many areas. Other bits are a nightmare still. There are still annoying problems that crop up but I guess you have to expect that as its so different - its far better than it was last July!

I had to go back to working in V7 yesterday and I had forgotten how to do it

This is the true nigtmare for Actinic developers / designers .. switching back and forth between what is essentially 2 different packages is enough to test anyones patience. Lets hope v9 is not another quantum leap from v8

Your not wrong there - Im at the stage where if the phone rings and someone wants work on a V7 site they can hear me screaming.
