Variables won't hold their values!

Hi!

I've made a couple of new variables for a fragment. Problem is, whenever I enter values into the text field (I've got them on the General tab) and click "Apply", the values are lost and it reverts to the default value.

Any ideas what's happening?

Go to Design | Library - locate your new variables, and check your settings for 'Place of Setting' and Advanced - place of setting.

Have you ticked the right boxes?

I too am encountering this problem on a variable assigned only to fragment placement. is there a solution to this problem?

Please let me know what point release of version 8 you are on. You can tell the release version number from Help | about.

I'm having this problem too - using v8.5.1...hfua... add a new variable, selected brochure & fragment as place of setting, added text into variable field, click apply and it disappears... anyone got a solution?

Have you tried assigning the variable to a tab other than "general"? This has known issues in other areas and may be similar with fragments.
