    ftp in test mode

just tried to upload a new catalog in test mode. kept getting 'timed out' errors.

finally actinic allowed me to switch to http, which worked fine.

i noticed that in test mode, enhanced ftp (whatever that is) and passive ftp are both blocked out.

    just wondering why?

never had this problem with this server (which ibelongs to me) with other high-volume ftp jobs, actinic or otherwise. there are no indications of problems in the system's logs and the system was basically idle during this process.

    anyone have any thoughts?

    David,

Test mode picks up the production settings for enhanced ftp. The theory is, you set up and test the production settings, get the green light and then switch to test, which only adds the additional layer of folders.

I use test mode quite a lot on the webspace I use for work in progress (lets me have two sites on display to the owners at one time) and have not been seeing any 'slowing down' in test compared to production.
