    product reference numbers

    Hi everyone,

When we export our catalog list some reference numbers are corrupted as they have a leading zero. Can products be exported keeping exactly what has been entered into the Product Ref field.

    Many thanks
    Sally

How do you export your catalog list - it may be that you can change how you do this slightly to get around this?

As an aside, check the file you have with notepad, it may be that the leading zeros are there but you are looking at the file in excel which removes them as part of it;s automatic field formatting.

      Thanks again Jen,

We are exporting the catalog file which we then want to edit in excel. It is definately removing the leading zeroes as this is how we noticed it when we then imported it back into Actinic

      Cheers Sally

It is editing the file in excel that is removing the zeros then - look at the file you have exported from actinic in notepad, you will see that the zeros are still there and that the product reference is in double quotes (I have assumed that you are using File / Export from the Actinic menu to do this export).

If you give the export file a .csv extension then excel will automatically open the file up and map the product reference field as a number (if it is totally numeric, which it is in your case from the sounds of things), however if you give the file a .txt extension and open it in excel, it will allow you to specify a field type for each field, make sure that product reference is set to text and you should be fine.
