shopping cart forwarding to extended popup!!

could somebody help me with this, whenever i select the more info for a product and then hit the add to cart button, afer the shopping cart add the product it forwards me to the extended information page instead of back o the catalog page.

    the website address is http://www.inetdirect.co.uk/acatalog

please note this only works if the last click before hitting the add to shopping cart button was the more inf button.

i really need to fix this.

    thanx in advance.

    Hi,

Only way to avoid this is to not use extended pop-ups but make them full pages.

Have a look at this thread for more info

this is not the problem i have. the problem is if you are on a catalog page and click the more info button to read the extended information and then CLOSE this extended info popup and then click the add to cart button on the main catalog page it will add the product to the cart but then instead of forwading you back to the catalog page it forwards you to the extended info page, which displays instead of the catalog in the main page.

I would imagine it is doing this because the popup is the last page it has registered that you opened. If your customers are having to close the popup to then go and add to cart, if you insist on having the popups, then why not include the add to cart button in the popup. A search of the forum will show how this can be done.

truthfully i don't really like popup info pages myself, but i have to use them as one section in the catalog can sometimes have above 40 products in it and the page would be too long if i entered the information/specs there.

if i want a more info link could i have it go to a product page but have the product displayed in sections section of the website, thus having the navugation bar and everything else still on the page???

If i'm browsing a section and it has 40 products, each of which i have to click to get the info, 100% of the time i would rather wait another second or so and get the whole page where i can read where i want. Your methods could make me click 40 times on that page to see all info - for me that is plain crazy, but that is how i like sites.

Slim the number of products in sections, include all of the info, get rid of the clicks and you will end up with with better seo.

                IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...although I suspect that you would still bounce back to the same pop up page after adding to cart.

i understand what you're saying but i have to have the products in the same section as they are the same product but different versions (e.g. motherboards from asus for amd processors ) from the same manufacturers.

is there no way of having the extended info page built in to the actual main catalog pages?

See - page per product - and - extended info section of Settings - Site options allows you to have the extended info open in the same browser window.

I heavily favour page per product - in this case it would give you 40 opportunities to optimise a page for your visitor. Instead of keeping information sparse to minimise page size when you repeat the exercise for all 40 items on the page, each page can do full justice to the ONE item it shows.

Good image, healthy comprehensive description, specifications, options - and using v8 Related Products links to three other selling opportunities - Just bought this board? Add a new graphics card/large capacity SATA drive/extra cooling fan.

If they are the same product but different versions, why not use drop down boxes to differentiate them instead of listing 40 products.

Yes you can have the extended info built into the main page, include it all in the description and you will have a far better solution IMO.

Search the forum for 'page per product'. It means just having the information for one product on a page. This can be done either by making the extended info open in a new page or, preferably, putting each product in it's own section.
