              From Bruce:

"There was a power outage at the Byfleet offices and hence the Phones not being reachable. We are still having some technical issues but if you call the numbers provided on the other thread, someone should be able to call you back."

OK thanks jont & drounding - that's pretty helpful - and nothanks to wasteve for jacking my thread

It would still be useful to get some pointer to some high profile etailers. I guess there are reasons for promoting the smaller sites in the examples page but it does not inspire confidence in becoming the next ebay

The phones seem to be back up at the moment. Kind of beat me to the pub moment !!!

                      Kind regards,

Example sites tend to be ones that make interesting case studies that will get picked up by the press, rather than just being big names.

Notable past or present Actinic sites include Lords MCC (selling test match tickets), Royal Albert Hall, Hasbro, the second largest toymaker in the world, Focus Do-it-All, Robert Dyas and the Royal Opera House plus lots of others. There are loads of sites turning over millions of pounds per annum.

The highest ever volume Actinic site that I'm aware of had around an average of 1,000 orders a day and sales in the tens of millions of pounds per annum. It started with Actinic Catalog operating out of a front room. (I'm afraid that I can't actually identify this one because the figures were given in confidence).

So the simple statement "Actinic isn't scalable" is, in my opinion, laughable. But then I'm biased.

Adams and Screwfix have both had Actinic sites fairly recently as well. The Rolling Stones (well Bill Wyman anyway), Billy Bragg, XTC have Actinic stores.

Ferrari and the MG owners club have Actinic stores.

My all time favourite store is the Starchaser store, I'm not often lost for words but I was when I asked them what they did, went to check their store and found that yes, they really were rocket scientists.

There are a whole load more well know sites listed here as well.
