    V8 in paralles

    Hi,

I have switched to a mac and want to put V8 catalog in parallels But also make the site folder accessible through mac. How do I set it up so both OS can access the root where all my pics and files are stored e.g. sites/site1

    I think you'll need the milti-user version.

You could try using the shared folder option in Parallels to share your site1 folder... I tried doing a similar thing myself but just ended up using Parallels to do the whole lot in the end.

BTW, which version of Parallels are you using?

        I am using Build 1970 (2 Nov 2006)

eighteentee - How did you end up using parallels to do the whole lot? I can easily add a mac folder but how do I get my actinic in the shared folder?

If you could explain your method that would be great please

To be honest, I simply use Parallels to do all my Actinic related stuff now. I do not use the Mac file system at all.

I meant sharing folders from the Mac to Parallels and not the other way round. Although, you could possibly do this but it would not be as simple as sharing a folder in OSX. I think you'd have to use FTP from within Parallels to the Mac. I'm speculating as I haven't tried it but it *could* work in theory.

Originally I wanted to simply use a shared folder in OSX so I could do all my coding and image work using the Mac and simply 'share' it with the Windows VM, however it didn't work, hence I just use the Windows VM to do all Actinic work.

I've left my MacBook at home today and currently working off my G5 so I'll have a play with the FTP idea a bit later on.

Just out of interest I tried Crossover and that really did not like Actinic 8 at all so don't waste your time!

Message to Actinic: Make a PHP version of Catalog!! (please)

PS. For me, build 1970 is the best build. The later 3xxx builds are sluggish and buggy. Keep your eye on VMware as it's a bit faster...
