Component Duplicate problem

Hi All,

I've just created a gift wrap component for each of our products, however the component has not copied over to the duplicate. Is this correct? I've had a good look around on here and haven't spotted anyone else with the same problem.

I've spoken to Actinic Support who have basically told me that I need to apply the component to each of the duplicates, which I would like to avoid like the plague, some of our 1500 products are duplicated over 5 times.

Also having looked it's not even a case of adding the components to the duplicates as the duplicate doesn't give me access to do that. So I guess I would have to do all the duplicates again - which really isn't going to happen.

Is there something I'm missing? Something that needs to ticked?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Amy,

If you had created the component before duplicating the product, then the info would have carried over. You will have to reapply the component to the duplicate. Another option will be to run an export 'File | Export | Catalog' and then copy the component setup from the main product to all the others. Mind you the export file is in hierarchical format.

I was afraid you were going to say that ... I wasn't holding out much hope that there was a quick fix but it was worth a shot ....

I'll go down the hierachical file import route I think - hmmm guess what I'll be doing on Saturday in my own time. Copy paste ... copy paste ... copy paste ....

Anyway, thanks for responding and at least I know that any new products that we add later will carry over the gift wrap component if I add it before duplicating.
