    XML import

First time poster, so I'll just jump straight in here...

I have a book seller client who is exporting from a Focus database (no, I'd never heard of it before either...) into a file format called Onix. This is apparently an industry standard XML format for books/publishing. Does anyone know the easiest way to get this into a format which can be imported into Actinic? I've had a look at XML to CSV converters, but can't seem to get them to work properly. Also, presumably it would make a difference if it was a relational database vs. a flat file database...

    Cheers

    Tim

    Access

    Hi

I'm an experienced hand with Access - so I would write something to parse that date. Having said that, XML is hard to parse unless you have done it before; if your client can provide CSV, then that will go into Access easily...then you can write VBA to map from this Access database to the Actinic Access database.

then export the calc sheet to csv, for import into actinic.

No need for all this running about. Just open the xml file with MS Excel.

                Thanks all

Yes, I thought I should be able to get it into Excel without much hassle, or use a converter of some sort - the actual problem was much more fundamental at their end than just trying to convert XML to CSV (which I thought shouldn't be too difficult)... Thanks anyway!
