    Disaster Recovery

I'm in the process of sorting out the Company's Disaster Recovery Plan.

part of this plan is the backup and restore of Mission Critical data, Actinic is a part of this.

Supposing we have a complete disaster and all hardware is destroyed. I buy a new PC and install Actinic.

If I had a backup of the last snapshot, would that allow me to continue with all functionality or is there anything else that needs to be backed up?

    Cheers

    Mike

As long as everything is stored in site1 folder a snapshot is all you need.

Site 1 (or wherever if you have Business/Dev/MU) and any externally linked files or images.

You might want also to back up any custom theme / colour / button / skin and the ini file from ../Formats on whatever machine you design on.

We use MU and back up the site folders on the server every night. We also run a Windows xcopy to another machine on the network for belt and braces. We occasionally copy the ../Formats folder from the PCs that do any design work.

        Great, thanks chaps.

I only use the Site1 folder. All images etc are always placed in there so that'll do for me.

I will be backing up all images we use on the overnight tape backup as these are static files.

I might even test the theory with a new clean machine. At the same time I'll test the Actinic V8.05 upgrade.

Guarantee you the snapshot does it all Mike, its the greatest feature of Actinic IMO - a real user friendly simple method. Guy who thought of snapshot needs a medal. So easy to setup a customers website with a snapshot.
