Search for part of item code.

I have made up the Product Codes like this:

    AB-CG-STT04

AB - my initials and to keep all the images/files/etc grouped together within the folders
    CG - the manufacturers initials
    STT04 the manufacturers item codes

This coding is applied whether its an image, popup page etc.

The proble is that when ever some one searches for STT04 (from a retail catalogue) my item does not get found.

Is there anyway that the item AB-CG-STT04 gets found just searching for STT04?

    Many thanks

Do you have this reference number viewable on the site? i.e. after the product name?

      Yes

I have just uploaded the test site at http://www.welshcorner.co.uk

Its pretty crap at the moment as I am just tinkering with V8 and trying to get to grips with it.

Just noticed the text in the search box does not show up for some reason?

      Never mind.

      Thanks for your help

white text on a white background.

its using the same css as your product descriptions, you will need to chage the css for the search box.

            Hi Andrew

I need to check if this can be done, I'll run it past development and as soon as I have some information I'll get back to you.

Did you ever manage to get something sorted for searching by part of product reference (like you can search within description).

Does it need editing of the perl script?

If you could come back to me that would be ace as im a bit stuck on this!!

This was three years ago. What version of Actinic are you using?

The only way to achieve this over perl script changes which I don't think has been done is to either add the prod ref to the prod description or duplicate it in a custom variable and allow that to be searched.

I would copy the product ref into another variable and use that method. You can export the catalog and import back in again mapping the prod ref to both the prod ref and the newly created variable.

There's some more info on this here: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=29415
