    Multi User not responding!

    Hello,

Every so often our version of Multi User will not open. We double click the multi user icon, correctly enter the password and a minimised blank Actinic orders screen appears. Usally this then moves to being a full screen and the orders appear, but occasionally it does not!

I've tried the usual "compacting database tricK" when it eventually loads, usually after a coffee break. That's me not the computer that has the break.

Any ideas as to how we can stop this? Is it the size of our database and if so, how do I make it smaller?

    Regards, Robert

How large is the database in Mb? How many products roughly? What is the spec of the machine it is running on - have you tried on another machine?

      Hi Jont,

The site 1 folder is 160MB is this the same thing as the Database? We have approx 1800 products and are running the software on a Windows XP Duel core new computer.

We have not tried loading the main part of the software on to another computer as this is technically beyond us, James from Actinic himself had to come down to Hungerford and install it!

The database is called ActinicCatalog.mdb in the site1 folder ... even with everything else in there 160mb is not massive and 1800 products is no where near making things struggle.

Installing v8 is very straightforward - James probably wanted a day out

I would try and install onto another machine and see how that fares - load the CD and follow the instructions.

Have you seen the threads on dual core processors? There may be something in there .. I tend to scan over those threads I don't have any dual core's so not sure if any resolvable or similar issues.
