Cart Emptying When Select View Cart or Checkout

    HI

I am using Actinic Multi-site - v 8.0.4 GMVA and have a number of adult toy sites - however they are behaving differently

They are all based on the Smart theme and have been modified in the same way

However one allows me to put items in the cart, view them and checkout - the other deletes items as soon as I view cart or checkout

I have tried multiple machines - with and without zone alarm - also multiple browsers - IE7 and the latest Firefox

I did think there was a problem with cookies as the working site seemed to have less cookies but I have cleared them down and tested again as follows

    goto home page
    navigate to any item
    add to cart
    see item in cart preview
wait until returns to item page
    click view cart (or checkout)

    at this point they differ

www.electrosex-worldofdreams.co.uk - works and shows item in cart
    www.phallix-worldofdreams.co.uk - shows empty cart

each site shows the same 4 types of cookie in the cookie store

    ACTINIC_BUSINESS
    CART_CONTENT
    ACTINIC_REFERRER
    ACTINIC_CART

the content of the CART_CONTENT cookie for the phallix site changes when I click on View Cart or Checkout

Has anyone any ideas on this???

Should I upgrade to v8.5 and is it yet safe to do so???

    thanks

    Jane

sound like the usual problem where there are inconsistent references to both the www and the non-www version of the site url.

Make sure your Business Settings, Network Settings and Navigation all use the www version, and add a permanent redirect in your root folder pointing all traffic at the www address.

For more reading on the subject, just search the forum on non-www

      Thanks Bill

I will have a go later but I have been unable to find any reference in any forum here when searching for non-www

        Jane,

What Bill meant was to check your Network settings to see if you have both the 'acatalog' and the 'cgi-bin' URL starting off with a http://www. because if both do not start in the same fashion then there will be issues with the cart..

        Kind regards,

There is also a bug with product and fragment visibility which empties the cart. I've written about it here

Finally - I had a chance to check....

Finally - I had a chance to check the settings and they both started with the http://www. so that isnt the problem

I dont have the situation described above - i only had one hidden section in this - which I have now deleted and purged and reuploaded the whole site

            Still the same problem

I get an error now though when loading the front page of the Phallix site -

            Line: 46
            Char: 1
            Error: Object Expected
            Code: 0
            URL: http://www.phallix-worldofdreams/index.html

            Any help would be appreciated

            thanks in advance

              Jane,

That URL needs to be http://www.phallix-worldofdreams.co.uk/index.html, it is missing the .co.uk

              Kind regards,

                  Upgraded to v8.5

I just imported a snapshot into my v8.5 and uploaded that and I still get the error

I just cant work out what might be happening - I dont get the internet error but using FireFox I can see the cart cookie being rewritten empty as I change the page

                  Why? is my question

                  Thanks

Both sites seem to work for me, in terms of adding to cart, view cart, etc.

What doesn't work for me on the second one is trying to checkout, where the ssl bounce page comes up with the empty cart message.

I would focus on checking the ssl setup for the second site.

                      Still not working

I have taken the exact settings from the working site - network export
                      changed the name/pwd as necessary
imported them into the other site
                      uploaded the whole site again

                      and still the problem occurs

I have tried turning off any program that might go near cookies (AV, Zone Alarm, etc) and accessing it through both FF2 and IE7 but in both the cart cookie clears down when I select View Cart or Checkout
I have now tried this from 4 separate PCs! so I suspect none of my customers can use the system either - we certainly dont have any orders where we would expect some

I'm am now tearing my hair out and looking back at my old v7 site and wondering if it is still viable

Any more ideas would be welcomed

                      Thanks

It's very strange. As you say, the cart just will not remember the contents. Ignore my previous post about ssl as it seems to be happening before that point.

I've looked at the usual suspects without any success:

                        1. www. versus non-www urls.
                        2. Server time error causing the cookie to auto-delete.
                        3. Security settings.

For some reason i can't even find my cookies any more on IE7 which rather limits what I can do. Sorry I can't be more help.

                        Mike

                          Jane,

If you have a cover contract please call Actinic tomorrow morning, else raise a support ticket here and mention this thread so that support can see what has been tried so far. Like Mike says, it is a strange one.

Please mention nature of content if raising an email ticket.

                          Kind regards,

Logged support call - got no further

                            HI Guys

Well using my Developer/Designer support contract I logged a call and got some of the advice given above

I mentioned this ticket and that i had tried all the suggested options - the girl I spoke to said she would do some research and call me back - I'm still waiting for that call

In the meantime I have tried several other things including cleaning out the online directories completely using ftp, deleting the whole site, creating a new blank site, importing a snapshot of the working site, changing only the names and passwords, then deleting the items and importing via csv the required items and uploading to a completely clear directory

but still items are being cleared out when view cart or checkout

I currently have my hosting company comparing the 2 sites to see if they can see any permission differences on the directories/files or ssl cert

To make matters worse actinic is running very very slowly and everything takes ages - I am very close to dumping it completely

any further suggestions would be welcomed

                            thanks in advance
