Upper Spend Limit for Members

A company wants to allow members to place orders up to an agreed account quota but without taking any payment. The payment method can be set to Payment on Account, so that's the easy bit... but is there any way of setting an upper limit on that account?

For example, a member has an account limit of £5000. They have already placed previous orders totalling £4000 and now try to place another order to the value of £2000. Is there any way of adding a script so that the Actinic software would recognise that the new order would take them over their account quota and refuse the order?

No, the limit you can set on accounts is for a single order only, one workaround would be to reduce that amount as orders arrive, either manually if you are not too busy or with some sort of offline plugin or SQL query maybe.

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't know how to do that. Do you think you would be able to develop some kind of offline plugin? The person who has asked me to look into this needs to be able to make this work somehow and would be happy to pay for someone to come up with a solution.

We could write a little app that could be used with out automation products to reset the max purchase for a customer before uploading the website, send me an email if you would like more details.
