Ranking Items of popularity

Is it possible to have my site automatically rank my items in order of popularity? I.e: the most bought item listed number 1 and stating how many times it has been purchased, and so on.

If you mean per section, then no. If you mean across your site then "Best Sellers" is what you are looking for. This is provided as standard and you should have it unless it's been deleted by you. Actinic provides "New Products" and "Best Sellers" as standard feature. The marketing menu is your friend on these.

You could possibly extract this info from the database and have it displayed - but would need some tricky programming from someone such as Norman, Bill, Jan etc who are knee deep in databases all day long.

Technically this is what it does, it works out how many you have sold of each products and ranks them accordingly. You select how many products you want included, however this would never stretch to a full catalogue, processing and upload times would be shocking.

Remember that 20% of your products will bring in 80% of your revenue, if it is too large it will detract from what it is showing and just look like a dumping ground.

Jont reckons it's great for getting rid of stuff you don't want either, label everything as a best seller and "hot cakes" springs to mind.
