How to work with Actinic correctly

    Hi

This is a newbie question regarding working with Actinic. I have installed Actinic on my local computer on the C:/ drive using the default installation and my websites are kept and maintained on the company's Marketing server on the M:/ drive. I notice I have been getting messages about links and paths etc.

I am redesigning an existing ecommerce website using actinic and will eventually customise it using Dreamweaver 8.

What I would like to know is what is the correct set up for me? for example should I copy everything to my local actinic folder on my own local computer and maintain a back up on the marketing server in case my "unstable" pc should crash OR install actinic on the marketing server (would that work?) OR the way I am working now with Actinic on my local computer with my images and customisations on the Marketing server but converging on my web server?

I am trying to avoid problems down the line where I could come unstuck.

    Advice would be greatly appreciated

    Regards

    Steve

You said the amswer that I would suggest - keep everything in the Site1 folder locally and perform regular backups to your company server.

Actinic works best when it has everyting on the same PC and files are all stored in the site 1 folder. You can backup using snapshots to any where you want.

Run Actinic soley on the C drive of your PC (including keeping images within the site1 folder) and backup to the M drive (snapshots and/or zip site1).
