V8 Upgrade patch is it fixed yet. Update req.

Hi Guys

Although we follow the excellent post by Jont on upgrading 8.XX to 8.5, some of our clients still experience headaches upgrading using the patch on heavily customised sites (design customisations only not functionality).

We were told that the dev team were working on it but no update has been forthcoming.

Any news on this as the upgrade process will need to be fully operational for home users IMHO?

Just to confirm, we have no issue with 8.5 clean builds, it is the upgrades that cause the issues and increases simple upgrade services work flow and time consumption.

Hi Daren

For all users, I would suggest you ask them to download and install the full version of Actinic over the top of their current v8 installation - rather than using the patch.

They won't lose any data doing it this way, and it has the advantage of including all the latest help updates, which aren't included in the patch. Also, the full downloads aren't massively bigger (in filesize) than the patch anyway.
