    Shipping issues

    I have spent hours trying to work out how to set up different shipping zones and prices with no joy whatsoever. can anyone tell this luddite how to set up a zone for the channel islands and the scots highlands and islands? I don't mind shipping to these regions but at the moment it's costing me money!

    Help, Please.
    Cheers

    Not wanting to userp the original post, I was about to post the same/similar question but shipping to uk manland only.

    We need mixed shipping EG: One Category of product By weight, calulated on quantity, then another category will have a fixed delivery charge only etc.

    Surely this is a fundimental need - how is it done?

    And to show the seperate calcuations on the shopping cart?

    Simple question - simple answer?

      Rob,

      A search on the forum for 'Channel Islands' will produce a host of threads dealing with this setup.. here is an example..

      Donald:

      If you are using v8.5.0 this will be easy to do. A look up in 'Help | Help Topics' within Actinic will provide you with the information on how to do it.

      Kind regards,

        Thank you for the response Bruce - Firstly Happy Easter to you and all out there in Actinic Land!

        Yes: 8.5

        I have already scoured the built in help and have printed out, read and digested (I think):-
        * Product Shipping Details
        * Introduction to Actinic Shipping
        * Calculation Basis for Shipping
        * Basic Shipping Charges
        * Zones & Classes
        * Calculating Shipping Based on Category

        After reading that lot, some aspects have become clearer but I still cannot get to grips with multi shipping requirements.

        Scenario;

        At the moment we only supply to the UK Main Land but this will change to world wide late on. We are dealing with:

        1) Exotic wood blanks, shipped by weight according to quantity. (each product given a weight value [about 1 kilo depending on the type of wood])
        Mostly can be shipped via Royal mail or courier but sometimes we need to put large orders on a pallet and shipped separately

        2) Woodworking machinery such as heavy bandsaws & Planers etc (hundreds of kilos) – Fixed shipping charge – varies from one machine to another.

        3) Small items that only weigh an ounce or two – Jiffy bag – Royal mail regular charges.

        Setting up a product category would seem to be the answer for multi shipping needs (IE Category 1, 2 & 3 as above) and have variable costs applied at the appropriate rate for appropriate category …

        BUT according to ‘Help’ “If a customer orders a product from more than one category, they won’t have to pay more than one fixed cost. Only the largest fixed cost will be applied for the order.” – That will not accommodate our needs if a customer orders two machines, each with a separate fixed delivery charge. We need to charge shipping costs for BOTH machines.

        We will need to show the separate shipping costs per category if possible, in the cart.

        I’m sure that these needs can be set up but blowed if I can see how…

        Additional pointers or guidance will be appreciated…

          What I am really needing is the ability to handle shipping chages on one order that contains items calculated by weight, items calculated by fixed delivery & calculated by zone/class…And if possible to show the different type of shipping charges on the cart/checkout

              Yes - thats a similar problem. I will need to digest the entire thread at a later date - been playing with Biz8.5 to the wee hours and a bit short on kip! Our site went live over the weekend, so have not been able to fix our problems as I would like. but found a temperary work-a-round until I get more time to get to grips with the issue.
              Thank you Bruce, for coming back to me...
              Cheers.
