    Random Products

Is it possible to have a random list of products that work just like the also boughts/best sellers list that you can add products to. I want to have a completely random 9 products on my home page that change each upload but I don't want some products to appear (like bulbs/batteries etc).

could I use php to check for a "random" variable = true and if so, randomly pick 9 of them to make a list?

I want to use my also boughts elsewhere and best sellers on my cart.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks,
    Paul.

Hows about using the "new products"?

Is there a way of restricting the new list to certain products?

      Thanks,
      Paul.

I can only see an 'age' restriction. I want to remove certain products completely whether they are new or not. I could use this to manually select products but not to auto generate them - I'll have to do this for now I guess.

          Thanks,
          Paul.

              Actinic provide us with:

              1 - Best Sellers
              2 - New Products
              3 - Related Products
              4 - Also Boughts (business)

Related products are included manually on each product, but the other 3 can be controlled automatically by actinic or you can choose to take control or you can have a halfway house.

These upsells are fired from system data and are items to encourage sales, if you want a random selection of products in a list, simply create a section and add whatever products you want into it. Actinic certainly doesn't have a standard function where you say chuck 9 random products in this section for me please. There may be some options using random product reference selections, however you'd need to contact someone like Norman to get an idea of the cost to build. I'd suggest an upgrade to business and use of the also boughts would be a far better investment personally, i think that is a great feature.
