    VAT Inclusive Search Results

I have just stumbled upon this and find it difficult to believe that Actinic doesn't display VAT inclusive prices on search results pages. I had never even considered this possibility until we came to tidying the layout of the search results.

Given that the vast majority of current users are UK based retailers where the law here and in the EU compels us to display prices to the consumer as VAT inclusive this seems to be a serious shortcoming.

Unless we can have this facility (which doesn't seem that big a thing) it is effectively impossible to use search results with prices. This would rule out using search results for marketing campaigns.

Thanks Alistair. I have passed this on to the team.

This has come up before on the forum and, as a few of us said at the time, our search results DO include VAT.

What variable is producing the price within the Results layout for you?

Nothing special Dave just the standard <actinic:variable name="PriceListRetail" /> as is used elsewhere.

That could be the problem, try using:-

          <Actinic:Variable Name="SearchResultPrice"/>

            Hi Dave

Actually I think <Actinic:Variable Name="SearchResultPrice"/> is the standard one and I added <actinic:variable name="PriceListRetail" /> to see if I could get the retail price.

It probably told me that <actinic:variable name="PriceListRetail" /> was used out of context before I turned it off.

Yep you are right, it is the standard one. There must be a setting somewhere as ours (and plenty of others I have seen) display INC VAT. But I can't find it for the life of me! Back to Chris on this one I think!
              Cheers

I am currently working on a trade website and I need to display ex VAT prices in the search. Currently I am displaying VAT inclusive prices using the "searchresultprice" variable.

We display ex vat and want to display inc vat desperately. We have done nothing in the search results code area as I read before on the forum that it was not possible to display inc VAT!

                  ?

How do you guys display your prices within the shop. Do you simply have including vat prices or do you show something along the lines of £10.00 (£11.75 including VAT)?
                    Cheers

I am getting (using 8.5 or 8.5.1) correct Gross (VAT inclusive) price in the shop but in the search result I get Net (VAT exclusive).

Our production site in 7.5 is Gross in both.

It looks like there must be a switch but I have been combing teeth and can't see a different setting for product and search result.

Well that's the same as us so I'm out of ideas I'm afraid. Gone through every setting I can think of but can't find any reference to it anywhere. It does work though, so if either of you want to give support a ring and point them to our site www.sportswarehouse.co.uk then at least you can show them a working example.
                          Cheers

OK this takes the biscuit and I am p****d off.

I am desperate to get the revised site up and working this weekend albeit there will still be work to do.

I haven't made any progress with this one so this morning I called Actinic towers. The person I spoke to uploaded a site1 to a server and told me that the search results showed inc VAT.

The suggestion was that it could be something to do with changes we had made.

So we have spent several hours watching Actinic upload various different versions of standard layouts but to no avail. We still get net prices in the search results.

I have just spoken again with Actinic who now tell me that it is a bug in Actinic. Strangely it seems to be selective about who and where it strikes. After all Daves site with looks to me to have some input from Norman works fine. Jo's SurfWax site also works fine. Both I presume 8 or 8.5?

So now, after several months getting there (we had other things to do as well) we are faced with going live in 8.5 this weekend but without significant functionality that existed in 7.

I go back to where I started - it is and has been for some time a legal requirement in the UK / EU to display prices to the consumer including VAT.

I would welcome hearing here about anyone who uses 8.5 with or without customisations that is displaying search results with or without VAT.
