Allocate sale to a specific salesman

Is there any way to mark somehow a sale to a specific salesman

We are putting a sales agent onto the road and would like to be able to monitor his sales

The sale may well take place weeks after his visit and we cannot really expect the customer to remember his name

any suggestions welcome

You could give him a coupon code with a specific discount eg 7% - hopefully that will be used by buyers and you will see the discount when you process orders?

Maybe the salesman could allocate a general login account (which id's the salesman) to potential customers. Might not be useful if existing customers already have a login account.

Another idea is to encourage customer to include the salesman referal via Coupon Code or similar.

After he has visited them, they will need a reason to specifically jump on your site and order, otherwise it might just be as and when they next sort through their paperwork.

Monthly coupon code with a 5% offer if ordered before end of the month. You gotta give him/her something to work with IMO.
