My Actinic 8 Is Very Slow

    Hi,

Since I have upgraded to Actinic 8 my changes take forever to apply. If I do something as simple as change the description of an item it may take over a minute to update. Some changes take even longer. Is this the same with everyone?

so is ours.... additional processing tasks V8 has to perform means that it basically crawls along like elderly slugs chatting about salt, where V7 is as fast as those bikes from the Disney sci-fi classic 'Tron'

There are several other threads discussing the same issue

If working on products and sections try turning off the preview and always under the "content" tab which is 100x faster than working under the "design" tab. Compacting the database regularly during prolonged periods of additions / alterations also works wonders.

As Jo points out this has been covered previously and may be worth checking out other solutions and ideas.

I hope one day that i experience a slow site, i'm yet to see one. Would love to know what is happening for it to be slow. Ive seen at least 4 sites with well over 5,000 products and have never seen one of them running slow. I blame the hosts!

                      Hi,

As Jont suggests, switch off the "Preview" window and work in content mode where possible. When completing tasks such as creating each product's related-product-list, I found that the updates were taking much longer than expected. Once I disabled the preview window, it was much quicker.

i agree with the above, i turn off preview window only use it to double check im not going daft occasionaly

but yes with preview window it is painfully slow
Remembering the road to Actinic enlightenment is a long and sometimes painful one.
