    site ordering failure

    Hi all,
Bit of an odd one here.

My site has been working fine, but for some reason it will not let people order.

Nothing has been changed nor have I made any script changes so I am really puzzled.

I am able to go onto the site, search etc etc and select an item and add it to my cart, but when you try to checkout it crashes.

    Any ideas?

    Please help ASAP.

    Thanks.

It appears to be related to your SSL. Try testing your network settings again - perhaps your host has changed something.

      ssl

      Hi,
I have just runb the test again, this time during the ssl test I got the following message:

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

      Please help.

      Thanks.

        settings

        Hi again,

have just checked the settings in the ssl tab of network settings and have noticed that in the ssl part the path from cgi-bin is blank where as in the standard tab is has a path.

It may well be that it has always been blank and I am barking up the wrong tree but I thought it best to mention it.

        Thanks.

Basics first - check the folder permssions for cgi-bin and acatalog on the server.

I presume you are hosted on linux - if so then ftp to the server using an ftp client - then you can check the folder permissions of cgi-bin and acatalog - usually by right-clicking on the folder - you will see permissions or CHMOD - make sure the permissions are 755 or 777.

                Hi,
Yes I have just checked and this is set to 755.

                Thanks.

I'd have a search for your hosts SSL settings on the forum and compare with yours. I see that scripts run OK on the unsecured part of your site but not on SSL.

                    confused

                    OK will do.

Why would this jus change as all has run smothly for weeks then this out of nowhere?

I am using name2.net, have you heard of any problems?

                    Thanks.

90% certain to be your path to CGI-BIN in the SSL settings, check that to the forum's recommended setting and run the actinic test.

                      "please bare with us"

Never ask your customers to take off their clothes either, will get you a bad name.

                        settings

                        Thanks Lee,

Humour, I remember that (I think).

Where are the recommended settings you refer to.

                        Thanks.

It depends who you are hosted with, if it is not mentioned in the forum, then just post your settings into here and we can take a look. Have you tested:

                          /cgi-bin/

                          as your first step?

                            settings

I have run the network test and it came up with the result above.

I am hosted with Name2.net and can find nothing on the forum relating to them.

Tell me what details you want and where I get them from and I will post by return.
                            Thanks.

You need to do an export of your network settings into notepad and then just paste them into here removing passwords.
