SectionHasVisibleProduct problem

Hi I've set the product pages to have "single add to cart buttons" - and quantity to appear on product page.

Except the add-to-cart button isn't displaying - I had a look at the block if and if I delete the SectionHasVisbleProduct condition the button reappears.

I then looked it up in the variable reference and apparently it's dynamically worked out - so next I thought it might be to do with stock levels, so I went and set these at 7 two above the warning level - this didn't have any effect.

So now I'm scratching my head...

How is SectionHasVisibleProduct worked out - and what setting might be affecting it displaying?

Any help much appreciated.
