    Urgent! Checkout doesn't work!

I have recently uploaded my site to http://www.laina-crafts.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

I can order, view the cart page, but nothing appears on the checkout, so no one can buy anything!

How do I sort this one out? I have tried to amend the checkout template in design, but any changes I make are applied to the whole site, and not just the checkout page.

What code do I need to put into the checkout page and how do I get it not to apply to every page in the site?

Is this the same problem as your duplicate thread which Norman posted an answer about? Revert your layouts to factory settings and start again.

      Not a duplicate thread

The problem is entirely different. The previous question I asked related to the fact that the Add to Shopping Cart buttons would not do anything. This question asked why the shopping cart page does not display anything - very different problems.

I will attempt what you suggest to see if that solves the problem. Thanks for your help.

They are all linked in the process of buying and paying for goods Rob, which is why i would imagine the same problem is the cause for the latest error. At least that would be my first thing to check.

If you have upgraded the site chances are something has messed up in the upgrade, get the layouts back to standard, refresh the site and then see whats happening. You can end up going in circles otherwise.

          Refresh done

Carried out revert to factory settings and refresh of the site. Everything works brilliantly, except the checkout page will not display anything. View cart works fine, no other problems so far.

          Any other ideas?

Very strange, your source code shows nothing for the checkout area, are you sure you have reverted all layouts back? Select the checkbox to highlight any changed layouts and check through them individually.

              I agree

This is what I mean! The checkout page so far is the only page with absolutely no code on it! Everything else is fine.

Anyway, I have been to Deisgn | Library | Layouts and reverted to factory settings the checkout page. It goes through the motions, but has done nothing to the code when it finishes. I also checked the checkbox and nothing shows up as being customised for checking with an *.

Would it not be easier to find the code and put it in the page? Or, is there another way of reverting to factory settings that I am not doing?

Thanks for spending so much time on this.

Whats shows in the design tab, when you select each of the checkout pages from the drop down box?

                  Design tab

It shows exactly the same page as is on the website in every single one of the four checkout drop downs - a basic site template. I get the impression it is picking up the site template as it has throughout the rest of the site, but has not put the code in.

Do you want me to paste the code from the design tab?

Not if it has nothing in it.

Is it possible for you to reopen the external design, rename it and then re-register it with actinic to use, just to check if actinic has applied your design correctly?

The design I put together for the site was built into the code window bit by bit by myself - I never registered an external design. I copied and pasted the design elements into the contents page. All the code for the other elements was kept within the table tag I use for the content.

How do I do what you suggest?

You can't, i could see it was not standard actinic design, so presumed it was an external design.

Without having it in front of me, it's very hard to work out what you have done wrong. I noticed a size included within the inner table that was clearly wrong so i can only presume that this is down to a coding error by you.

I'd apply a new theme and start again, the time you will probably spend solving this is probably best spent reapplying the design, just take a snapshot before you do and you can flick between the versions seeing what you have done if you get stuck.

It is unfortunate that with or without the table width inaccuracy (I know about this extra width and it was the only way I could get the page to work), it would still not be the cause of the problem I have asked about and to be honest, the reason why I upgraded to v8 was precisely because I can use an external design.

                          Thank you for your help.

Can anyone else help with my problem? Perhaps someone else can direct me to the correct code to put into the page which would solve the problem I am having.

If you are having problems with layouts not working, adding incorrect code to make it work is something you should always try and avoid, this can have a number of impacts, some of which you probably won't even consider.

V8 gives you the ability to create an external dreamweaver design and then use this layout for your actinic store. You do this through the integration kit.

If you have purchased V8 so that you can code within actinic itself, you always had the facility to self code anyway?

I'm a little confused on what you have done here, so i'll leave and wish you good luck, hoping someone else can spot your mistake.

Its a shame that even though you admit that you do not really understand what has happened here, you are so quick to apportion the blame to me! After all, it could be a glitch of the software - it's not unheard of and there are plenty of examples in the Actinic Community.

I am looking forward to someone else having a solution. Thanks for your help.
