newbie question on a text box

I am after creating a system where as a customer can input their own text next to a product. An example of this would be a customer choosing a piece of Jewellery and being able to place in a text box the engraving required on it.

Hope someone can help please.

This feature is available on the 'prompts' tab when you have a product selected.

I tried the promt thing before. All that does is allows me to place an additional message on my site. I am wanting a text box up there so a customer can type in their own message along side of the product they have choosen. I tried attribute, components, none appear to work.

i hope you dont mind me pushing in on this thread, but it fits in without creating a new thread - which i believe is the best way in a forum.

With the promt text box's, i have managed to change their appearance through the style sheet.
The promt text box's are also produced at the shopping cart. but they are produced via a variable called: "PromptValue"

Is there any way of editing the "PromptValue" variable so it can take my style and look like the rest of text box's WITHOUT using a global "input {" style

i dont want ALL of the input tags looking like this.

Use the additional info feature. If you need multiple text fields then norman has an excellent patch

When i use the prompts tab, i get a text box and a label of my choice, where the customer can put in whatever they want.

Your box would be labelled "Please enter you required engraving message" or something alike and the box would be below it for the customer to complete?

Are you saying you do not get this?

Rather than style the input box globally, apply your own class instead.

In the promt area, I get the other info question. I completed that, and left the other date info question blank. did a refresh, and all I got on my site was my question been asked. nowhere for a customer to fill in a text box. Wondering if I have a problem with the upload off the site, maybe its not uploading correctly.

Hi There,
web page as follows. www.apresent4u.com it on the gifts for her page. At the moment I have 3 items up there, they will all require the promting for their engraved message. Doesnt even show up in the offline preview.

Trevor,

You're using Quantity on Confirmation Page. So that's where the prompt will show. Click Add To cart and see.

Switch to Quantity on Product Page to see the prompt alongside the product.
