uploading site

i have version 7 and 8, i can upload my site from version 7 and everything works but when i try to upload from version 8 the network setting dont seem to work and i get error pages when i navigat through the site also wont let me add anything to checkout nothing seems to work at all, can anyone tell me where i could be going wrong and if you need any more ifo to help me with this problem let me know and i will provide.

Is this happening on 2 different urls? Or are you loading to the same place? What does the network test say when you try it on v8?

uploading to same URL (same place) when i test the settings i get the following message.

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

does the test matter on V8 if i have uploaded my site with V7?

Ideally you should leave your V7 site and upload V8 in test mode, this provides you with both versions in the same place, but not affecting each other. Reload V7, put v8 in test mode, refresh v8 and see what happens.

will try this but i dont seem to sound stupid but do i have to create another directory or just put V8 in test mode and upload? will this affect any orders or customers using V7 already on site?

If V8 is in test mode it will work totally independent of v7, therefore you can tweak and have a mess with v8 and v7 will just function along as if it doesn't know. Test mode creates everything it needs to work independently, all you have to do is select 'test mode'.

the settings are the same as V7

Make sure you have different script IDs for the v7 and v8 sites.

Have you confirmed the script numbers to what they are calling?

I see that your two sites have the same script ID and are sharing the same cgi-bin. Try changing the ID on the v8 site and give it a go.

Lee - I also haven't needed to do this - but I know others have.

can someone please tell me if the network settings set up in V8 and V7 are the same process as i can run a test ok in V7 but when i run a test in V8 with the same settings i get a cgi error.

not sure if i am missing something i have tried a different CGI scrip number from that in V7 but it makes no difference. i have run web site configuration. and it goes right through the process and seems fine but when i run a test i get the same error message as above.

also when i update or refresh the site in V8 Norton pops up saying its blocked an intrusion from catalog.exe,

where am i going wrong
