Eeeeek - Actinic fell over - did I break it?

In the design tab, when I try to select 'Checkout 3' in the 'Select Page Type' box, Actinic crashes out without any chance to save or what!

It just falls off the edge of the world without as much as a by your leave.

    Seriously...
Is my Actinic broken? ... or is it normal for this to happen on 'Checkout 3' - doesn't happen when selecting anything else...

I tried a much earlier backup but if fell over mor spectacularly - It threw a heap of error boxed that filled the screen rapidly! I managed to get a screen grab - the error was:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error
    Program: C:\Program Files\Actinic v8\catalog.exe
    R6025
    - pure virtual function call

I plan to do the following unless advised not to:

    1) copy latest backup to a safe directory
    2) Copy all my extra image directories that reside in 'Site1' to a safe place.
    3) delete Actinic
    4) reinstall Acinic and restor backup and images

Alternatively, could I copy/past Catalog.exe from another machine?

Although I never get an error messages etc as you have, Catalog always abruptly closes for me on (any site I am working on) when selecting Checkout Page 3 in Design view.

Do what you have suggested but don't forget to include a snapshot as well. And also copy all of the Site1 folder and sub folders as a backup.

        Thanks for that Duncan

I have Actinic running on my laptop as well as my main development machine. It does not 'crash out' on selecting 'Checkout Page 3' and I note that Checkout Page 3 is Java, I assume the bit for card details.

I feel inclined to do a reinstallation of Actinic - All necessary files, folders & settings are already now safe on drives D, G & H, a data stick and my Laptop.

This sounds more OS than actinic, especially if Duncan is experiencing the same. I'd imagine there is some security setting hidden away somewhere. By all means try your suggestion, i don't think it will solve it to be honest.

This is probably quite a widespread issue, yet few people actually access that page, hence little known about it. I'd go for a windows or ie7 issue personally.

I wonder if you can get actinic to use firefox for the preview and eliminate things that way.

Whats the spec and software on the problem pc?

I have this occurring, but not all the time - with no change to the PC.
I was working on a site for a client a while ago and it was working then but since (with no PC changes) it crashes.

I agree though it does sound like a java permissions issue - or perhaps even a java update???

Duncan & Lee: you are both right - It is a Java thing and not an Actinic thing. Phew, I thought I had bust it!

I purged 850 from drive C (didn't mess with registry) after backing up again...I reinstalled Actinic 850 from a fresh download today from Actinic website.

Before I imported my site, in the Virginal Actinic Business, I tried to look at Checkout 3 page. It crashed!

Investigating further, I discovered a 'crash error log' in the Actinic8 Directory with the name of "hs_err_pid3828.log"

Opening this log in a text reader revealed a 214 line error report; the first 13 lines are reproduced below:

              # An unexpected error has been detected by Java Runtime Environment:

I checked mine and it was crashing every time I tried to look at checkout 3 so I uninstalled the latest java update and it has cured it (update 6 ithink)

I can confirm that it uninstalling 'Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 1' resolves the problem.

This may have bad implications for those using the java appelet in their checkout. I assume then that those customers with this update installed will not be able to use the appelet.

Hopefully support will read this comment on the customer implications....

The Java Applet within the 'Design' tab is packed full of variables rather than real values - and obviously the environment you were using didn't cope with the variables.

Fortunately, customers will have real values in their applets, so will not experience these issues.

Thanks for clarifying Chris - at least customers will be okay.
With that java update loaded though you can't modify the checkout 3 layout.

                        Hi all,

I'm suffering with the R6025 issue using Designer.

Can I just confirm that the only way to solve this issue is to remove Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 1.

If so, does anyone know if this will have any other implications on other applications on my PC?

                        Thanks in advance guys ....

I removed it, the Actinic problem went away and all my other apps appear to work fine.

In 'Business Settings | Payments and Security' click on 'capture CC card details' and then click on the 'Configure Method' button, you should now see the card types offered and can select the checkbox under 'CVV2' for the card types you want it for.

                              Kind regards,
