ok brain boxes, I have this for you...

I am on V8.5 now, I wiped the servers, re-installed V8.5 15 times and even the sample site in V8.5 wont checkout without the warning error previously mentioned in both FF and IE - it's very intermittent fault/glitch

I have also tested this with SSL on and off

I have tried the site on different servers (UK and USA) and get the same thing, now what I did notice is that on the view cart page where Update, Save, Continue and Checkout is, is the code for this checkout button is different to the code of the checkout button on the nav bar at the top of the page so whilst it's a lash up did I copy this code to the view cart page just to test and still it wont checkout unless I do this:

Add an item to the cart
    View my cart
Click the Home button, THEN click the top nav Checkout button does it actually work and allow me to the checkout page

A messy setup but the only way it will work, so the question is now "how can I make the checkout button on the cart page somehow link back to the home page then to the checkout page without people physically having to do the above cos it would put me right off if I had to buy from my site.....

Sorry for rambling here, but my explantion above is almost as though pressing the Home button, then the Checkout button is somehow refreshing the page??

I really dont get this one bit

    Kev

Have you tried setting a different site theme and seeing if this works? A bit tricky if you only have the live site - we always set up a test dom for a project just for debugging purposes and have a dedicated box which helps keep control of any host changes (not bullet proof though with windows update!).

Ive had problems using SSL before - which PSP are you using and do you need SSL on your own site?

You've been battling with this for some time now Kev. I would raise a sipport ticket with Actinic and reference this thread.

In the interim...(clutching at straws but might be worth a try)...

Could it for some reason be the ftp settings? Post you network settings without usernames and passwords - perhaps someone can spot something odd. Also mention your hosting company.

Another thing to try is - in Actinic select - Web|Generate Scripts. Then download the script files from your server and compare the scripts (with a file compare utility) to those just generated in your Site1 folder. If you find that ca...pl or others are different try manually uploading the genersated ones in the Site1 and see it it works.

In deed I have been battling a good slog here Duncan, even raising a support ticket with my host company Ipowerweb (usa) - (and I will be changing I think) have they not replied in over a week to me

Their help button link mysteriously stopped working but they have a "Live talk" option and after 35mins of them telling me it's my fault and "check your software" did I finally get it out of them that THEY admit to a script error on their servers!

Cor, did I give them a few words
Two weekends of 5.30am starts on this and it weren't even my fault!

          arrrgghhh........

I think that most of us who have followed your plight, trials and tribulations will have much sympathy... But very glad to hear that you got to the root of the problem.

I bet you don't even have a cat to kick either!

              Thanks Donald

              That's host support for you!
I had to put a note on the shopping cart page to the effect of "due to web certain browser issues you need to press the Home button then Checkout" bla bla

It's the only way out of this until the donut host sorts THEIR script error

Sadly there is no cat here for me to kick, but I tempted to go and buy one now...lol

I'll post my final remark when it's all sorted

              Thanks everyone on this
