Collecting brochure requests

Hi

I am redesigning a website created initially in Dreamweaver. The current website has a brochure request page where I collect data about them such as name address and email etc. This data is collected in an Access database. In Dreamweaver this is very straightforward for me to do but now I am redesigning the site in Actinic I need some direction as to what I should do and how to do it.

Do I customise a page in Actinic and redirect the form data into my Dreamweaver database or do I use the Actinic Acatalog database? If in Actinic how do I set up the ODBC etc?

I would avoid doing it in actinic, the only way is to make the customer checkout as if buying something which is long winded or modify the contact form.

If you can i would collect the data in a format that you can import direct into access. Or use a mysql database and collect the information this way on your site, do not ask me beyond my parsing expertease.

Interesting reply, if an experience Actinic person says avoid doing it in Actinic I will do it within my own skillset and use Dreamweaver. If I understand jont, I will llink the Brochure page in Actinic to a Dreamweaver page linked to my existing access database hopefully making life easy for me!

Yes - add the code to a fragment or even the side bar and simply point to an external page ... as a pop up or a new window etc .. whichever best suits.

The Actinic database is very very fragile and best left to do it's own things.

Exactly, Jont is saying to keep continuity in your site, use actinic as the front end / page layout but collect the data your way in the back end
