Displaying sub-sections in tab format

Hi

I'm trying to get my sub-sections going vertically across the screen in tab format, a bit like the dell site http://configure.euro.dell.com/dells...sftdppdesktop1

Is it possible to do this in Actinic? If it is, I'd be very grateful if somone could shed some light on this.

Hi Michael
Yes, you can do this, but it is not a standard Actinic layout, it is a case of designing the tabs yourself, and is quite tricky to get right.

If you wish to give it a go, a google search for "tabbed navigation" will throw up lots of 'how to' sites, which will set you on your way

One word of caution - be very wary of sites claiming to build tableless pure css
tabbed navigation. The theory is great, but trying to put it into practice cost me 2 frustrating weeks, before I gave up! Designing tabs with tables is far easier.

No, not like that Bill. What I want is a sub-menu that will let you order related components to make up the final order. eg. Like building a PC, the customer would first select a cpu, then go on to select ram, then disk size, then graphics card etc etc... Rather than get the the customer to keep going back to the main section each time, I wanted them to be able to navigate to the next section from the page they're on. Hope that makes sense. Bit like the Dell site that I originally quoted.

Sorry, I misunderstood you Michael.

A sample of the build a PC method using components (as used by the Dell page you are highlighting), is included with the inital instal of Actinic, so I'm assuming that you want something more complex than this. Could you elaborate on how you want the system to act. I may not be able to help, but others might if you spell it out more.

Norman's 'tabber' add-on might be right up your street then if you are willing to pay for some custom work.

No prob Martin - found out some good info for other things in the future - if ever I get round to doing them!!!

I've obviously not explained myself properly as there still seems to be some confusion as to what I'm after. I've knocked up a couple of screen layouts of what I'm talking about.

Fig-1 is how it is at the moment and Fig-2 is how I'd like it to be. Hope that helps.

My post addresses number 2 image, number 1 just looks like section layout which is standard actinic functionality.
