Pruning defunct images from Site folder...

Anyone know of a quick and easy method to prune out all unused images from the Site folder?

I've been using Actinic for our site since ver3, and never removed old images for products that were removed from the site, and as you can imagine, my site folder is now rather stuffed with excess images no longer required...

S'pose logic says open the database and head for the products table, export it, print it out in excel then head down the list manually, deleting anything that doesn't appear on it... was just wondering if there was some way to automate this procedure...
    Cheers!

This has been covered before but with no single click solution ... a file comparison utility was recommended before I seem to recall.

The "sensible" solution is to delete everything (images) off the server and upload a fresh .. although that naturally brings its own fun and games with large sites.

I do a date sort on the images and remove the oldest 100 images, snapshot and actinic will tell me which ones are missing, i put the ones missing back in and try again, this time i should get no errors and i've pruned x amount.

Another way is to do a file export to get the images used, create a snazzy excel formula to create an <img> tag, paste this into a page in dreamweaver, upload the page, then scrape the images off that page, and put that back into the site folder after you have removed everything currently in there.

The files need to be pruned locally as I haven't yet uploaded my new v8 installation to the server (will be to a new location to the previous v6 store)... just need to do it locally...
