Website in test mode..should test orders/payments work?

I want to test my website to make sure the payment methods work (especially given some of the recent threads!)

Should a Protx paid order work with my website still in test mode?

Paypal did...although the receipt page failed..I assume this was due to it changing from the test site and trying to bounce back to the main site?
I'm not sure..maybe someone else knows from experience?

Yes, if you have your PTX set to production, this will override the TEST setting for the store. Make sure you switch all payment methods to test.

I've had to copy my OCC folder from V7 to V8 to make Protx work on my upgraded site but it worked fine thanks.

Just one more thing.. On my test orders (both with Paypal payment and Protx) the receipt page failed giving a general script error

Is this callback problem to do with the site being in test mode and passing back from Paypal/Protx to my test site?

Or could it be something else?
Does anyone know?

It is my understanding (I sound like a call centre bod ) that once you switch back to production, the functions will return.

Test it out and let me know...
