Too many Dropdown boxes in checkout

I know there are a few threads covering this but unfortuately there doesn't seem to be a proper solution.
I have 2 Countries set up as UK and Ireland, I have regions as England,Scotland,Wales,Channel Isles etc.
I have ship to seperate address enabled, I have tax by invoice address enabled, so this gives the 4 dropdowns for Invoice country/Invoice Region : Delivery country/Delivery Region.
I would like to remove the delivery dropdowns as they are not needed unless the customer ticks the box for seperate delivery.
If I change to Tax by delivery address it removes the invoice Country/Invoice state boxes BUT no address is passed to the HSBC.

Question is if I comment out the delivery dropdowns will the delivery address default to the Country and State selected on the invoice address.

    Cheers,
    Phil

    Phil,

Known Limitations with HSBC Secure ePayments

Please be aware of the following known issues with HSBC:

    1. The customer's address details will not be passed into HSBC if you are using simple tax calculations and simple shipping calculations. This is because HSBC requires a country code (provided by advanced shipping and tax calculation in Actinic) in order to display address information correctly.

    2. If you allow customers to ship orders to a different delivery address to the invoice address, then none of the address information is passed to HSBC.

If you use the default settings for shipping and tax that are provided when you first start v8 then you will not experience an issue with the first point. You will have to prevent customers from entering different invoice and delivery addresses.

    To do this....

You can use the 'Design |Text' area (see Using 'Design | Text') to ensure that customers online are only required to specify one address per order, rather than a separate invoice and delivery address. This is useful from a security point of view, as this will allow you to ensure that the goods are sent to the address that the credit card is registered to. Also, it means that the ordering process is quicker as customers only have to specify one set of address information online.

To do this, you first need to make a few changes to Business Settings:

    1. In 'Business Settings | Tax' ensure you have 'Tax By Delivery Address' selected.

    2. In 'Business Settings | Payment and Security' ensure you do not have 'Limited by Location' checked for any payment method.

These changes mean that now only the 'Select Shipping Destination' drop-down list will appear in the online checkout.

You can now change the text in the checkout to remove references to 'Invoice Address' and 'Delivery Address' in order to just use 'Address' instead:

    3. In 'Design | Text | Web Site (cont) | Shipping and Tax' change 'Select Shipping Destination' to 'Select Your Country'.

    4. In 'Design | Text | Web Site (cont) | Invoice Address' change 'Invoice Address' to 'Address' and un-select the 'If you want to ship the purchase to an address other than...' box to prevent that question from being asked.

Your customers will now only be required to enter one set of address details online.

    Kind regards,

      Thanks for the reply Bruce,
What I was hoping to do was:
Set advanced tax (by invoice address) so that the country code is passed to HSBC.
Allow shipping to seperate address with the tick box.
Not allow shipping to seperate Country or Region, so if customer selection is UK/England the shipping address will be passed as the same but will allow them to enter a different address on the next page (but not for example UK/Scotland).
So is it not possible to hide the second two dropdowns but pass on the delivery country and region as the default "Use Invoice Location"
Unfortunately Tax by delivery address is not an option as it doesnt show any address in HSBC, I tried it for a couple of hours earlier this week and now just waiting for the chargeback letters to flood in.
      Make sense?
      Cheers,
