Can you assign a global value for product duplicate layout rather than having to assign it on a individual product dialog box

I've recently changed my approach to handling these. I used to advocate having the master in the most obvious place and duplicating them to wherever you want them.
Now what i like to do is have a section solely to contain the products that are going to be duplicated, i call it 'Duplicates' and place every master product within this section. I select the layout i want for duplicates and then duplicate files into where i want them. I then hide the section.
This change of approach has been a God send on this latest duplicates bug, plus if you use it correctly, you always have a master list of products duplicated across the site.
