Permissions Denied

Hi,

Has anyone come across the following error message:

"An error occurred while creating the order number lock file (../www/acatalog/OrderLock.num). The error was Permission denied. Actinic ecommerce can not create a unique order number and can not continue. Please contact us directly with your order"

Customers are unable to add to cart and we are not able to download orders from site - error "The permissions on the acatalog directory are locked
The permissions on the file on the acatalog directory are"

Everything was working fine as of 7pm yesterday, we have made no changes to the site. Does this sound like a hosting issue?

Yes it does, but if you can, check the permissions of acataog and cgi-bin to be 755 - else contact your host.

This is usually the case, with the host denying until blue in the face it is nothing to do with them.

You could try FTP'ing to the server, copy out the .ORD files (or everything to be safe) ..... delete the /acatalog/ folder and create afresh then copy everything back.

We have tried with the hosting company, 72 hour response time (totally unacceptable). Easyspace, avoid like the plague!

I would suggest a guy at Artisan for hosting, Malcolm. Excellent customer service and extremely helpful. Gets a plug from us for great work so far.
