    Scripts in test mode

    Hi all

I've had a good search of the forums but cannot see an answer to this one.

I've just uploaded a version of our web site in test mode so that we can check out the online ordering (online ordering is currently suspended in the live version but switched on in the test version).

However attempting to add anything to the shopping cart in the online test version brings up an internal server error. Edited to add that the online ordering has previously worked absolutely fine on the live version.

Strangely the search facility also works on the live version but not from the uploaded test version.

Am I missing something blindingly obvious here?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi Julia,

Have you edited any of the scripts using the Advanced User Guide, namely the script to make the 'Other Info Box Opional'? If so, I had the exact same problem with the error appearing when I viewed the cart or checkout. This is due to an error in the AUG. See this thread for the resolution.

    Hope this helps.
    Jules

I've been playing around with this some more but making no progress - the test site is also taking about an hour to refresh.

        A sample URL is http://www.xxxxx.co.uk/acatalog/test...cap-press.html

Try changing the script ID and uploading - you may be sharing the cgi-bin.

I've tried that one already - a few times which has made no difference.

Should the test site upload a version of the scripts into a separate folder or should it use the scripts already in the cgi-bin?

test mode scripts are prefixed 9

              ie live ca000001.pl

              test ca9000001.pl

Neither live or test sites are working at the mo.....

Ordering is deliberately switched off in the live site.

I was missing the obvious on the '9' prefix on the scripts - I've just had a look and they are not uploaded although I have not been getting an error message specifically on that just a general merge error.

                Off to play some more.

                Thanks!

                  Not Found
The requested URL /cgi-bin/ca900015.pl was not found on this server.

i get this on the test site.

Post your network settings for the live site (exc password etc)

                    There you go.

These settings have worked perfectly in the past - I have tried today with and without passive FTP transfer. Am just trying it again without but it is timing out every 20 seconds.

OK - I've uploaded the test site again (about 40 FTP time outs getting there though) and the scripts with the '9' prefix are there now. No messages about the scripts not executing but did get the merge error message at the end.

Trying to add an item to the shopping cart now produces a server error.

There are days when I hate computers - this is one of them!

                        Julia,

Have you made any progress on this one? Have you contacted your host about it?

                        Kind regards,
