Best Sellers / New Products Issues

I am trying to establish a best seller and new product layout like this...

..with the products as a linkable one line short description rather than the entire product description aswell (if that makes sense)

I have gone into Settings, Site Options, Best Seller section and played with several settings but nothing seems to come close. Does anyone have any experience of this that they are able to share please?

I am also trying to establish same size boxes for my new products using the standard layout for them in the middle of the page like this ....

Advanced user Guide has the code required to cut a description down to a given number of words/chars

AUG also has code to make iages in BS linkable use this for the description

Thank for this, I have found the info related to that but unless I have read it wrong, it only relates to full product description rather than short description for the best seller list. There is also info on making images clickable - is it anything in there that you are able to direct me to?

Soory I misread you wanted to shorten short descriptions, i answered for long descriptions.

To make an BS element clickable you can use the principal outlined for images ie use the same code to wrap around the short description

Am not sure I follow Jo, sorry...

If you go to the webpage I suggested, it gives a numbered list on the LHS of both best sellers and new products....this is what I would like to achieve on my site rather than when the best seller list comes up - it shows the full description aswell rather than just the numbered list...

Yep i've been answering another tangent.

all you need to do is change the layout, go to the overall layout, right click on the layout selector for the bestseller list, edit selector, choose a different layout from the Basic definition tab bottom of dialog box

I think you need to choose a different best sellers layout for that. There's one that ony displays the short description as a link. Is it the "Sidebar bestsellers list" that lays them out like this? (I forget, I've twiddled with mine LOL)

Have tried both this and Tracey's reply below, but still no luck. I'm going to kick myself in the head when I find out that it was something really simple...!!

Any other ideas?

Hi Peter

Please try using the 'Standard Best Seller Item" layout that should give you what you want. To get to this layout, switch to the Desing mode of Actinic, click on the Design Tree tab, look for "Standard BestSeller list.... " right click on it and goto "Edit Appearance" from the dropdown list you can choose the layout I've mentioned.
