How do I set the country field at Checkout to UK Only?

Hi,

I have searched the forum and found various answers to this question for different versions of Actinic. However, I am still unclear as to the solution and I am sure that this must have been updated at some point.

I am only supplying products to the UK. I have removed all of the other countries from within Actinic. However, in Checkout Page 0 it provides a drop down box which has 'United Kingdom' and 'None of the above'. Obviously, there is no need for a drop-down box here. I would just like it to say 'United Kingdom'.

In fact, this first checkout page does not serve any purpose as the check box for delivering to an alternative address other than the invoice address has been removed.

Therefore, I would like to do either one of the following (preferably the second)

1. Remove the drop-down box and replace this with 'United Kingdom'

or

2. Remove this first checkout page so that the customer is taken directly to the page where they input their details.

I have already tried the following:

Changed the Tax to Advanced and ticked 'Do not allow none of the above as a zone member'. This does remove the prompt. However, when I do this it adds VAT on at the checkout which I do not want as I am using a tax inclusive pricing structure.

Also, I have tried selecting 'Simple' tax, but I can't select 'Simple' shipping as I have inclusive delivery over Ł10.


Can anybody help please?

I am looking at a site where it has advanced shipping and simple tax selected, have deleted the unwanted zones/classes, do not allow shipping is checked on if shipping band not defined and it does as you seem to be asking. May be time for some screenshots of what you have.

Excellent! Thanks Lee. I had omitted to check the 'do not allow shipping' field on 'If shipping band not defined'. That's done the trick. However, is there any way of removing the entire Checkout 0 page as it does not serve any purpose in this instance?

Not that i've ever found tbh, i agree its crap, pretty sure it's not possible to do anything though. I await a new more streamlined checkout process with baited (not held) breath.

yes, it's not ideal if it can't be changed. Could somebody from Support confirm if it is possible to remove the Checkout 0 page please?

It's possible alright, I have done it on our site. However (he says looking slightly dense), I cannot for the life of me remember how I did it!

Thank you very much. If I remember rightly this will only work if you have either a simple shipping model or you do not charge shipping at all. Any other type of shipping and it will show the first page.

No tested this yet but I'm sure that's the way to do it.

If simple shipping won't work for you, you could setup your shipping as an Order Level Surcharge (this is what we do) and try confirguring that (making sure you then turn shipping off in Business Settings). Shouldn't be too difficult to set it up for FREE OVER ŁX.XX. Then just name the discount as 'Shipping' and away you go!

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, I don't use simple shipping. It is set up by 'Zone and Class' whereby anything upto Ł10 is Ł1.95 and thereafter delivery is inclusive. So, with this in mind, do you think there is a way around this?

You mentioned the 'Order level Surcharge'. Where do I set this up?

Give this a try. Go to Marketing | Discounts & Surcharges Settings and recreate what I have done in the image attached. I have based it on ex VAT figures but you can do it inc VAT should you want to! Obviously!

That seems to have worked. Checkout 0 has gone! I have just noticed that the 'If you require delivery to a different address tick this box:'field is not showing. I can see it in the layout but it will not let me drill down into the layout so it is almost like the layout's content has disappeared if that makes sense. I have tried re-inserting the layout but can't find 'Ship To Separate Address' within the library. It seems to have disappeared!

Also, I want it to just say Postcode and get rid of the Zip code part and also get rid of State and Province and just have County. I have edited this within Design|Design Text but it hasn't changed when I upload it.

Any ideas?

OK, first things first, make sure you have:-

<actinic:variable name="CheckoutPrompt" value="Ship To Separate Address" if="%3cactinic%3avariable%20name%3d%22InvoicePrompt016Visible%22%20%2f%3e"/>

in your Checkout Page 1 layout. If it is there go to Design | Text then click on Go to and enter Phase 0 and ID 16. make sure you have the SHOW tick box checked.

The variable is there and I have ticked 'show' in Design|Text but it is still not showing.
