2 Fields for Customer First & Last Name

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before (I have looked really thoroughly) but is it possible to put two boxes for customers name, as my SAGE database is overflowing with sometimes up to 5 accounts per same customer

(miss smith, miss j smith, ms smith, ms j smith, julie smith, julie-anne smith and smith for example )

We used Secure Trading and Shop Factory before now, so this has been going on for a while, but it would be good set Actinic up to minimise this. I know that Actinic has a seperate title box, so regarding the ms/miss thing, can you make people use it or take it out altogether? It does get confusing when some have a title and some don't. We never use titles when talking or emailing (we always use first names, but then if they've just used j smith, you haven't got a fallback like 'hello can I speak to mrs smith?' over the phone. (I'm starting to ramble now! )

Am about to following the directions on the post for making name and address to come up with capitals too.

    Many thanks,

    Hettie.

regarding most of your post, I don't know...but

I've experimented with this a bit.
If I use the "title" box..sometimes customers enter it there AND in the "name" field (where it requests FULL cardholder name which sometimes includes title)
If I remove it, a lot of the time I get no title at all which, as you say, isn't an issue unless you wish to contact the customer.

What I don't like about leaving out the title altogether is that, with probably 95% of orders coming through as "Mr/Mrs/Miss" in the "name" field...it makes nearly every order number begin with an "M" rather than with their first initial which I don't like.

Minor niggle though...and doesn't help really LOL

      Hettie,

If you open a customer account to edit it, you should see a field called 'External Reference', you can use this field to map your actinic customer to your sage customer and will prevent duplication. You can do away with the salutation bit in Actinic by unchecking 'Show' in 'Design | Text | Web Site(Cont) | Invoice Address'.
