    New website - Any opinions?

    Hi

I'd appreciate a little feedback on my new website, www.allmemorycards.co.uk

I haven't got all of the content on yet by far, but I think the presentation and layout etc are 95% there.

I'd like to do something with the home page, but can't think what.

    Cheers

    Martin

Looking at the Sandisk CF page the drop down selector for the capacity is so long it is breaking out of the central column (in Firefox at least) into the blue background.

When is the site going live BTW as the Extreme 2GB at £23.74 is fantastic.

Thanks, but I don't get that, is it possible you could show me a screenshot?

You can buy the card from my old website if you like http://www.tiktak-it.co.uk/acatalog/...ash_Cards.html

Thanks Jont, that if helpful to see.

I don't understand how that is happening, I use IE6, have tested this on IE7 and its OK. However long I make the product description it never goes over into the border on IE.

I also can't work out why some products have the combo box below the picture and on a few it is slightly to the right.?

What Jont has shown in a screen dump in firefox. It also happens to me in FF, and doesn't happen in IE.

The way round this is to ensure the drop down box always is displayed on a line of its own. The display differences are because different broswers render css differently

OK, but any ideas as to how I do that. I've had a quick play but with no luck

add a <br> before the css for the drop down list....

or wait for someone who knows css to reply as I'm not better than a css bodger

                  Don't sell yourself short lass!

It is a little more complex than the addition of a <br> as the image is set via CSS and the component is coming in via a <table> .... if the image is deep the code will still sit to the right of the image albeit another line down.

You probably need to edit the layout for the component (or add into the product layout before the component) a clearing <div> to force it past the image at all times .. this may lead to an unbalanced look though if the image is deep ... left with a lot of white space above the drop down box.

Firefox is showing the correct display.. IE may look right but this is due to it bodging HTML

Might it not be simpler to just use the compact tax inclusive layout for your price permutations ? That would reduce the length of each row by 25% or so.

Richard - is it not the HTML name from the component / attribute causing the long name in the drop down box?

I did not type in the descriptions. Looking at some, like the Sandisk Extreme lines they could easily be trimmed. I tried changing the tax message, but I really like my current selection.

I've never used FireFox, but according to 1&1 1,983 people visited my site using FireFox 2.0 last month. So it's a shame my new websote will show up like that for so many people. All I can do for now is trim the descriptions.

On IE it works so well.

Hi, please could you firefox people take a look at my site again please.

I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know if it's now sorted, better, or not.

                            Thanks

                              firefox 2 images attached.

happy to oblige, but really ANYONE that is serious about putting actinic on the web MUSt download, and install Firefox - there are some really clever addons that will make your life a doddle.
almost without exception, it should be habit to view the pages in IE and Firefox - failure to do so will force the majority of web-people to look elsewhere.

there was a recent thread about which addons should be used with FireFox2
