Best Sellers List HELP!!!!!

Hi

Sorry, reletively new to Actinic meaning that this time we have designed the site in Dreamweaver and registering design to Actinic etc.
Now.... i have managed to get top section lists in and page content and the shopping cart etc all to work really well with the design but for some strange reason i cannot get a best sellers list to show where i want it too!?!?!?!?!?!?!
What am i doing wrong? am i missing something. I have tries inserting the Actinic Content "Best Sellers List", "Best Sellers List is Enabled" and the "Best Seller List Sidebar" but nothing ever shows up in this area, except for when the "Best Sellers List is Enabled" is in the area and then i get a number 1.
I have checked that i have products checked in the Marketing area for Best Sellers but i must be missing something and its driving me INSANE!!!!!
PLEEEEAAASSE can someone put me out of my constant misery and best seller list nightmare.............

Is that how its works then? I assumed that because it was linked in with the marketing tab, that you told actinic what items you wanted to show in the best sellers area..... Sorry, if this is the case then i'm a complete prat and apologise for waisting peoples time!!!!!

It works off your sales figures Tony, however in the meantime you can select how many items you want in it, then select the items against the numbers down below and 'lock' them in place until you have some real stats to use.

err, thats would be fine but its being updated by the client so i think i will leave it to create the best selling list automatically so they dont need to worry about it.
I assume the AC "Best Sellers List" is ok to use?

i think i will leave it to create the best selling list automatically so they dont need to worry about it.

Best to lock and load for a few days until the orders start filtering through and then you can switch the locking off to have Actinic take care of the genuine list once it has a few orders to grab onto.

It's fine to use yes, main decision is where you want to show the best sellers, i have sites with it either:

Displayed in sidebar
Displayed in main area on home page after everything else
Displayed in a section of it's own (top level section) and selectable in the menu

They all use the same data, it is just the display of them that is different, which you select in your site options (or the variables you include). Basically a columnar versus a rownar(not a word i'm sure) is the main choice, which is chosen by the layout you choose.

I'm sure you can have it in sidebar and main area at same time also, however i have never quite understood why anyone would ever do this tbh.

OK, take your point but i am a little unsure of how to do this to be honest. I have had a look but still unsure........
Can you explain without taking hours out of your undoubtedly busy schedule?

OK Lee, see your point. Mine is like a side bar, down left hand side, underneath the main link/product title headings.

Select to include 6 products at the top, click 'generate now' and then below where you see the numbers 1-6, click in the column next to it and you will get a dropdown box with your products in the list. Select a product and then select 'lock' in the next column to keep it there until some real stats can be used. Once you have some real stats, then unlock it, click generate and it will fire with real figures.

sorry, lost me, where would i find the point at which i select to include 6 products and click generate now????? Do i have to be looking at the Best Sellers Page?

Select "best sellers" in the marketing menu and all will become clear.
