You are quite correct IMO Lee. V8 was designed to capture designers who were using other packages - this is why it is so geared to them with the design features and client.

As a result many have taken it up - my design course had several people new to Actinic. Because of this they have no knowledge of V7 and cannot understand it because V8 is so different - the easy option then becomes "you need to upgrade to V8 to be able to do that" when in reality V7 can do most things.

ACTINIC: I will not be making further purchases of your packages for my clients. I just wish I'd seen this kind of attitude before I purchased, and I hope new users on demo read this post and decide they can't be bothered with the hassle.

I too only ship to UK, I have Tax set to Simple, and Shipping set to Zone & Class, and Do Not Allow Shipping, I therefore get in Checkout the option of UK and None Of The Above in a drop down menu

However, what do I need the drop down menu for? I want to get shot of it but am not too sure how I do it

Any verbal abuse or stupid answers will be reported to my mum!

having read this thread I can see a bit of wind ups here, Malcolm is a pro web designer and as such this forum is inundated with non-pros like me

What is hard for me and others is chicken feed to Mal and many others, perhaps he should not have replied to your question and just kept quiet but on the grand scale of things he has helped me out even though I too have had a moan a few times on the forum

I'd rather accept a few sarky remarks than have to fork out £'s of pounds on one to one help

there are only a few dozen on here who are regular posters, most are pro's and to be honest I follow there answers to enable me to help others too

don't be too angered as this does happen on forums

What you have is what i also have and i do not get the drop down box. Are you sure that you have no other settings on products or categories or anything alike setup and you have refreshed your site and you are not viewing a cached page?

Hmm, I'll do a refresh, I didn't do that, just an upload and got the drop down option as stated before

Let me do a refresh and then see cos if it works for you then it should for me although I do have the alternative Delivery Address option checked

The update should have done it Kev, i'm a little stumped to be honest. The only thing i can see different on yours is the global free over "£250" setting. It's bound to be something stupid and simple - sounds like me lol.

Smack on dude, I no longer have the drop down option, very clever stuff this software and TBH I really think you and certain others should do a "stupid idiots guide" on V8 - I am basing this on the "niggly things" that mean so much such as my annoying question of the DD box

I've followed many a reply you have made in the other forums on this site and as you say, many don't make it past 50 posts, and there are seldom new threads that have not already been posted years ago

Just a suggestion, could make you a few quid - "tips and tricks AUG" or whatever

It's a toughie Kev on whether the time invested is worth it and whether people would pay. To do something extensive really needs paying for as it will invariably have to be updated along with new versions. It's quite difficult speaking in plain English, whilst also not waffling.

I've started a few tutorials on my site for just basic stuff, however setting up shipping is next on the list, of which i am only halfway through, it takes some time to write. I think the problem solvers thread maybe the way to go, although that in itself is a hard task and i have only ever had 3 people contact me to add links - people just cannot be arsed is the real truth. They have their problem sorted, why bother helping anyone else.

This forum is severely biased (on people count) to getting advice and not giving it. I don't think this will ever be addressed as it takes so much time to be able to use and talk about it with any real confidence.

I would like to see actinic doing something better on the forum, restructuring it and getting rid of this 150 page scenario, which is often more like a lucky dip than a structured index of fantastic info.

As you would have seen, it is now sorted, but FFS don't say that about yourself (simple & stupid.....lol) you're one of the regulars on here and a bloody good help an'll
