New Products Icon

Just a quickie ... Back in the midst of time I seem to remember that the example products in the Actinic 8 setup had the option to show a "NEW" icon image next to the recently added items.

I may well have dreamt this as I can see no reference to it now. I assume the icon only showed for the first 30 days or whatever you have set in the New Products preferences.

Is it possible that it's on a different layout? Or did I just dream it? Any pointers much appreciated.

Yup,

SETTINGS | SITE OPTIONS | PRODUCTS | PRODUCT LAYOUT | LAYOUT FOR NEW PRODUCTS (for standard themes)

With custom designs, you will need to add the new.gif into your layout and save as.

is there anyway do do this automatically

i.e. if a product was added to the catalog in the last 30 days an image saying new etc would appear next to that product.

I know that you could use the alternative product layout with the new image on but this would mean that you would have to remember to change it back to the standard one after 30 days had elapsed.

I was thinking along the lines of a

block if statment or php ?
